Tips and Tricks to help you build your own collection

As an action figure collector with a passion for 1/6 scale figures, I love nothing more than helping beginners get started with their own collections. If you’re new to collecting action figures, then you might be wondering where to start. Here are my ten tips and tricks to help you build your collection:

1. Start with what you love. When it comes to collecting, the most important thing is to collect what you love. Whether it’s figures from your favorite movie or TV show, or figures of your favorite superheroes, start with something that speaks to you.
2. Do your research. Before you buy any figures, do your research. Look up reviews, check out forums and online communities, and ask for advice from more experienced collectors. I spend a lot of time on Facebook groups and eBay looking things up.
3. Budget wisely. I am not the best at this, but collecting action figures can be an expensive hobby, so it’s important to budget wisely. Set a budget for yourself and stick to it.
4. Consider the scale. 1/6 scale figures are larger and more detailed but also more expensive. Consider other scales, like 1/12 or 1/18, if you’re on a budget.
5. Buy from reputable sellers. When buying figures, it’s important to buy from reputable sellers. Look for sellers with good feedback and a proven track record of selling quality figures.
6. Keep the packaging. (And keep it in good condition … so don’t put it in your garage on the floor near a door or a window) While some collectors prefer to open their figures and display them out of the packaging, keeping the packaging can add value to your collection, especially if you want to sell it someday to someone like me.
7. Display your figures properly. Once you’ve started building your collection, make sure to display your figures correctly. Consider getting a display case or shelf to show off your collection.
8. Build relationships with other collectors. This one is so important! Building relationships with other collectors can help you learn more about the hobby, find new figures, and make new friends who share your passion.
9. Keep your collection organized. As your collection grows, it’s essential to keep it organized. Consider categorizing your figures by franchise, character, or even by scale.
10. Have fun! At the end of the day, collecting action figures should be fun. Don’t get too caught up in the value or rarity or value of your figures, and always remember why you started collecting in the first place.
