The Black Ops Toys Artists Corner focuses on people in the 1/6 hobby who make amazing art out of 1/6 scale action figures. Often you’ll hear that toys are to be left brand new in the box to be worth anything at all. But we believe that taking these 1/6 scale action figures out of the box and painting, weathering, gluing, sanding, cutting, stitching, and photographing them makes them more valuable to us (THE ARTISTS). The figures are more than just pieces in a box. Kitbashing artists make the figures come alive. These are the artists we focus on.

Shane Poole specializes in high-end action figure hair-rooting work. He takes head sculpts that customers send him, and he roots hair in the head and paints and updates the head sculpt. In this episode, he talks about how he got started in 2015 and what led him to take on this work full-time in 2017. He is so busy now that he closed his commissions in 2017 and is still fully booked with work. 

Besides this hair-rooting work, Shane is eager to help others learn. He has a Patreon channel, where he posts videos on his techniques on one-sixth scale hair rooting. He also shares his work on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
